Where is Saxon's Located?

Our shop and therapy rooms are located in the market town of Beccles, on the North Suffolk border. We are only 20 miles south east of Norwich and 10 miles east of Lowestoft - the UK's most easterly town!
There are plenty of other shops to visit in Beccles, and hence ample parking. Or why not leave the car at home - Beccles is on the several main bus routes (e.g. Norwich - Lowestoft) and on the main Lowestoft - Ipswich - London train line. We are situated in the central area, in New Market, opposite the Swan House.

The map below gives a rough guide to where we are (if you require more information then you can always Contact us and we will do our best to help):

Beccles is a market town situated in the Waveney valley. It is very unique having so many old and listed buildings in the area particularly concentrated in the centre. The town has a lot to offer, with many unusual shops, a museum, swimming pool and some good restaurants, all in a very historical setting. Many distinguished names have lived or have links in Beccles such as Martin Bell MP, Sir David Frost, Sir John Mills plus not forgetting Nobel prize winning chemist Dr Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin, just to name a few.

Our shop is listed and dates from the 16th century (see the Shop page for a view of the shop front). The earliest record found was 1570 and it has been used as a school twice, once in 1851 and again in 1912 when it joined with the neighbouring house. An adjoining door was found between the two buildings together with other evidence to support this.

The building itself has flagstones in the waiting area, the same as by the church, which suggests there was a right of way through to the rear at some time in the past. A wall painting has also been found on the fireplace in one of the therapy rooms but is still under renovation, however it appears to be 16th century and looks very much from the old testament.

The house also has a very interesting cellar which at one time is thought to have been linked to the church. The attic also has a very fine fireplace and this area has also now been turned into 2 therapy rooms. We also know that a solicitor and several surgeons have lived in the house during its lifetime.
