What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy aims to improve and restore normal movement and function after injury, an episode of pain or chronic aches and pains. We use a variety of assessment and treatment techniques to identify the problem and encourage a quick recovery. The type of treatment depends on the individual, we take a holistic approach and therefore each person requires their own treatment plan.

What to expect?

Your first appointment will be an initial assessment where I will take a detailed history from you. This will be followed by a thorough physical assessment. I will look at your posture, movement patterns, ranges of movement and muscle strength. Depending on where the problem is, I may carry out specific tests. These objective signs will lead to a diagnosis identifying which structure (s) are causing the problem.

Treatment sessions will then focus on the source of your symptoms. I have a variety of treatment techniques to use where appropriate but treatment plans will be tailored to suit your needs. Treatments may include manual therapy, massage, ultrasound (electrotherapy) and exercise prescription.
